Additional Important Information:
Parent
Information:
ATTENDANCE: Regular
attendance is a requirement. Each lesson is a follow-up of
the proceeding lesson and is a foundation for the next lesson. When
a
student
is absent, another student does not have a partner. To be excused
for illness
or emergencies, it is necessary for the student to call 650-340-9860. Students
are encouraged to schedule a make-up class. (See
schedules and locations.)
Make-ups are offered as a courtesy and sometimes cannot be accommodated. If
a student misses three or more classes, they will be dropped from the roll.
This
is necessary because they have not learned enough to continue, and it is not
fair to those students who have attended.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE: To insure that every session
begins promptly, we ask that students arrive 10 minutes early for instruction
and sign-in. If you need
to bring a student early, or will be late to pick up, please call me. This is
workable. Cell: 650-465-7353.
DRESS CODE: A student may be sent home for inappropriate dress.
LADIES:
- Class:Long or tea length (mid calf) skirt or dress
- Short white gloves are required for all First Year classes. Gloves
are not required for Second Year classes. For the Tea and Spring Ball,
gloves are required for all classes, (First and Second Year), however the gloves
may be short or long.
- No spaghetti straps, or halters, and no bra straps or stomachs showing.
- Shoes: Mary Janes or flats/pumps are preferred, no mules. Sandals with a strap on the heel are ok up
to November.
- Afternoon Tea and Spring Ball: Tea length (mid calf) or long party dresses
GENTLEMEN:
- Class:Suit, or sport coat and slacks, or sport coat and khaki pants
- Dress shirt and tie
- Dress shoes with dark colored socks
- Father/Son Lunch: A suit or dress slacks and sport
coat.
No khaki pants.
- Spring Ball:A semi-formal affair requiring a tux or dark suit.
Arrangements have been made with Selix. More information to follow.
CHAPERONS & TEAM MOTHERS: Some of you have already
signed up to be chaperons and team mothers. Thank you. I still need a few Team
Mothers. It is a very easy
position, but a vital one. If you would like to know more about what a Team Mother
does, please call me. Chaperons are needed at each class to help the Team Mother
put out refreshments. Parents are asked to chaperon at least one class; more
are welcomed. Four parents are needed for each class. Dads are invited. Last
year we had quite a few Dads help out. Notice the convenient phone number. Office:
650-340-9860.
MEDICAL: Please notify me of any medical or learning condition.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Brother Jay will be at the Beaus & Belles
and Spring Balls. He takes individual and or group pictures. Get all dressed
up and have the family
picture taken. Photos will be ready at the end of the ball. No waiting! Only
pay for the ones you like. Each 5x7 photo is $10.00.Suggested arrival time is
1-2 hours before your ball time. We cannot guarantee you will have time for pictures
if you arrive only 30 minutes before your ball. The ball will start promptly.
BEAUS and BELLES BALL YEAR II/SPRING BALL YEAR I: Only cake and punch
refreshments are served. I suggest that students eat before they arrive.
PARENTS HONOR DANCE: All family & friends are invited to the last 30 minutes
of the ball to observe the Parents Honor Dance and the awards presentation. Mothers
dance with sons and fathers dance with daughters. We will have some fun and a
short instruction on the Fox Trot before the Honor Dance begins. Parent dress
code: Coat & tie for Dads. Mothers in dresses.
JANUARY CLASS: Mark your calendar. *** Table manners.***
Don't miss it! Extra Chaperones are needed for this class. You will really enjoy
helping with this
class.
HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANTS NEEDED: I am currently taking applications for the assistant
program. One male and female assistant per class is needed. Group assistant training
is provided. This is a great way for high school students to earn community service
credit while building confidence and self-esteem. See www.polite.com & click
on assistants.
GOOD DEEDS: Because Jr. Manners Cotillion is a children’s organization,
we support helping other children by donating baby food twice a year to the Family
Shelter Network in San Mateo. We request that each student bring a few jars,
or boxes of baby food to the Beaus & Belles Ball and again to the Spring
Ball. Last year we delivered over 700 jars of baby food!!!!!! Each one giving
so little means so much.
BOOKKEEPING: Please do not bring your payment checks to the September, or any
class. Mrs. Millet has been known to loose a check before getting it to the bookkeeper!!!!!!!
Please mail checks, or payments may be made on line at www.polite.com. Click
on “Payment.”
Please remember to put us on the notification list if you have changed your address,
or phone number.
CLASS BOOKS: One class book is given to each student in September. A social assignment
is given each month. Parents are asked to sign off on each assignment. Students
are required to bring their books to each class. Replacement for a lost book
is $10.00.
WEB SITE INFORMATION: Throughout the year information
is posted on www.polite.com/current_events.html. Please
refer back to
this site frequently.
CLASS SCHEDULE: Please check the class schedule to make sure you are registered
for the correct class.
INTERVIEW SKILLS: Mrs. Millet is available for private lessons to help students
with the interview skills needed when interviewing for private school. Call for
more information.
If you did not submit a photograph of your child with the registration form,
please send one to the office. This helps us to recognize the names and faces
of our students.
We look forward to a great year.
