Having fun playing miniature golf
Classroom learning only takes a student so far. Practicing in real life situations with your peers is the ultimate training and polishing for a well poised and well mannered young adult. Whether you are going on to college or entering the work force, this training is invaluable.
The Out and About Program takes students to events as casual as bowling, and as formal as black tie dining and dancing at the Olympic Club. And the ski weekend at Bear Valley is always a hit. Each event, which is held once a month on a Saturday or Sunday is not only fun, it is a training class. Students quickly learn the bar has been raised. They also learn it is a safe place to ask all the questions regarding when to and how to do anything, and I assure you they do ask. More topics are covered than you can possibly imagine! This is great because everyone learns.

Students must call upon all of the manners and social skills training they have had in Cotillion. Each event is different, therefore dress codes will vary. There is a lot of opening doors, pulling out chairs and everyone knows that at this level, polite conversation is coed.
Students who take the Out and About Program are either just starting to date, or will be starting to date soon. This class prepares them for being comfortable in the presence of the opposite sex because they are very confident in how to behave. Students are well aware of good and right behavior vs. tacky and wrong behavior. They have been given the tools to make good choices.
