Currently Junior Manners Cotillion has had 6,000 + students registered Many students have taken more than one year of Cotillion.

It all started in 1995 when Mrs. Millet was doing some public speaking in Vancouver, Canada. Standing in the lobby of the hotel, she noticed limousines pulling up in front. It was prom night and the young people were all dressed up. How lovely, and her thoughts wondered back to her own prom. She was jolted back to reality when she noticed the way the kids were dressed. Never before had she seen combat boots with a tux and some of the girls dresses were… well, she was not too sure what to say about them!

She also noticed that the boys did not know the etiquette that went with renting the limousines. As soon as the vehicle stopped, the boy jumped out and then waited for the girl to get out. The poor limo driver could not get around the car fast enough to open the door for them, so he just stood there. This happened time and time again.

Some boys did open the hotel door for the ladies and then some girls left the boys, opened their own door and went inside to say hello to other girls!

All of this is comical until you realize the far reaching affect it has on these young people and our society as a whole. It was then that Mrs. Millet decided there needed to be a class to teach these things.

“Elizabeth had a wonderful time at the Olympic Club. In fact, she had a wonderful time from the moment she was dropped off until she was picked up. Thank you so much for the confidence and appreciation for beauty you share with these children. I really believe that the essence of etiquette is beauty and kindness and those qualities have been there for Elizabeth to enjoy all three years."
